High-definition images of a mouth and the surrounding area are an important tool that helps a dentist accurately diagnose issues, identify the warning signs of potential problems, and offer the most conservative treatments available. Digital imaging provides high-definition scans and is safer for the patient and better for the environment than traditional film x-rays. These digital images do not require developing and are easily stored and transferred to specialists or insurance companies as needed. 

Some dental treatments, such as implants, require advanced planning. In these scenarios, we employ a CT cone beam scanner, which provides a panoramic view of a patient’s mouth and lets us visualize how the teeth and restoration options will fit together. Dr. Clark also recommends using the cone beam scanner every three to five years as part of a regular dental checkup because it allows for the early diagnosis of a wide range of potential dental problems.

This digital technology ensures the crown is made to the exact specifications of your tooth. CEREC is a multifaceted system comprising an infrared digital camera, 3-D imaging software, a milling unit, and much more.

If you prefer more relaxation during dental procedures, nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, is a safe and effective option. Administered through a comfortable mask, nitrous oxide works quickly to ease anxiety and reduce discomfort without putting the patient to sleep. Intraoral imaging has changed how dentists examine, diagnose, treat, and interact with patients. Before digital impression systems were available, patients would have to bite into clay or a putty-like substance to capture the shape of their teeth. Not only was this inconvenient, but it was not entirely accurate and would often miss minor surface imperfections.

Digital impressions are much easier, more convenient, and completely accurate. We use the state-of-the-art CEREC PrimeScan system, and impressions can be sent to an in-office milling unit or a trusted dental lab when necessary.
